Side Street Restaurant and Catering Service is located in the Oakwood Historical District of Raleigh, just one block south of the State Capital complex.

 

Mary Lu Wooten opened Side Street in July of 1979.  At that time it was the only restaurant in Oakwood.  Before its conversion to a restaurant the building was a grocery, grill, laundry, and a church.  A historical painted sign still adorns one side of the building. 

 

The Restaurant’s current décor is cozy and tasteful.  An atmosphere of simple and relaxed dining enjoyment is created by the fine, friendly staff.
